Events, Classes, and Innovation Training
Spark Tank
Spark Tank is Travis AFB's annual keystone event, designed to platform the most innovative ideas from around the Wing. Ideas are submitted from all over (including airmen, family members, and civilians) to help solve the issues which face our wing.
Join us for a two-day in-person course at the Phoenix Spark Lab to learn the fundamentals of additive manufacturing. You'll explore Computer-Aided Drafting (CAD) and Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) 3D printing, including equipment operation and safety. Discover how to leverage existing designs and connect with the DoD additive manufacturing community. By the end, you’ll have the skills to design and print your own original creation in the innovative Phoenix Spark Lab.
Annual STEM Event
Each year since 2018, Phoenix Spark has partnered with the Solano Unified School District to put on a STEM event for approximately 65 community youth. For many students, this event serves as an introduction to applied STEM, in addition to their first close-up look at Travis AFB & the US Air Force in general. This event is a great opportunity for Travis Air Force base to reinforce ties to the local community, and to inspire and mentor the next generation of innovators and leaders.
The STEM event is slated to take place during the first week of May 2025.
